September 14_ Cimetiere du Pere Lachaise

Père Lachaise is the largest cemeteries in Paris and is one of the most famous cemeteries in the world.  This cemetery is unique in that it seems to be alive with activity during the day. Parisians call it la cite des morts “the city of the dead” and use it as a place to stroll, eat lunch and rest. It is filled with rolling hills, thousands of trees, winding paths with carefully plotted street names and elaborate sculptures and tombs. It is filled with graves of those who have enhanced French life over the past 200 years, including Oscar Wilde, Chopin, Proust, Colette, and Jim Morrison.
